Most acousticians that I know of design rooms with non-parallel surfaces.

Rooms without parallel surfaces are harder to analyze, but generally will work better. It is, of course, very possible to be worse, so don't skip the analysis there.

Rooms without parallel surfaces allow a more live sound without needing absorption to minimize flutter echo (recording spaces) or early reflections (control rooms). But this is mainly for mid and high frequencies. At low frequencies typical angles do little if anything to mitigate peaks and nulls and ringing.
