Request For Debaters

This will be a stick thread for requests for invited debaters who are interested in being involved here on a one on one debate involving contentious issues. Unlike the General Debate Forum, this one will involve only two members from start to finish. Topics will be mutually agreed upon by each member. This forum will be heavily moderated to ensure polite discourse between participants

This is fabulous! I suggested the exact same thing over at the Gearslutz (pro audio) forum earlier this year, and nobody was interested. But a one-on-one makes a lot of sense because it keeps the debate focused, while avoiding posts that say only "I agree" or worse. When several people can gang up on someone else it becomes a popularity contest rather than a discussion of facts. And when someone is confronted with 40+ posts, it's easy to miss something important or, on the flip side, easy to purposefully avoid the other person's pointed question.

Ethan, any desires on your part to debate some issues one on one as a recent dialog between you and Amir regarding jitter could be a good topic

I'm totally up for that. And with the two of us there's no need to worry about anyone flaming the other guy. :D

Is it possible to move some of those other posts here? Either that, or he and I could copy our posts so far to here manually and continue here. Whatever you guys decide is fine with me.

Great idea. Let me speak to Amir but can you PM me which posts exactly you want moved here (I assume the recent discourse between you on jitter)

There will be no flaming as once things get started only the two of you and the moderator will post there until the debate is done and others can chime in
