The following concert review from today's New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/28/a...s-at-the-beacon-theater.html?pagewanted=print) got me motivated to post a few of my favorite CDs:

Tribalistas, Phonomotor, 2001

Her million selling one time collaboration with Carlinhos Brown and Arnaldo Antunes. Possibly the greatest MPB album of the past twenty years. Joyous, full of wonder and an absolute desert island disc. Well recorded. "Carnavalia" is a long standing personal digital demo track.

Infinito Particular, Phonomotor, 2006

A more laid back efforts, highlighting her beautiful voice. This one will grow on you with repeated listenings.

Universo Ao Meu Redor, Phonomotor, 2006

My favorite of her solo efforts. Beautiful songs which are well recorded. A wonderful sampling of many styles of Brazilian music. One sour note, collaboration with David Byrne on "Statue of Liberty" which is jarringly out of place.

Velha Guarda da Portela "Tudo Azul", Phonomotor/EMI, 2002

Marisa produced and contributed vocals to this labor of love celebrating the masters from a famed Samba school (http://www.velhaguardadaportela.com.br/). The music is delightful and this is one of the best recorded redbook CDs you will ever hear...
