What is new in my music library? (recent purchases I enjoy)

This is not the first time that I share my willingness to take more out of the What's Spinning Tonight thread that Myles started some years ago. It represents and incredible source of music/artists for many of us, but has grown so fast that is almost impossible to take the most out of it.

In order to have another source of NEW albums (any format including downloads), here you will find a space to list them, feel free to post any title including not recent material but an addition to your existing collection.

I will start with my recent purchases just yesterday in the following post.

(Steve/Amir - if there is a similar thread somewhere (I did not find any), just delete this one, no hard feelings! :) )

This thread is complementary to What's Spinning Tonight, which IMO should just go on!

Fernando, what format are these in? Love Pat Metheny's work, plus he seems to be usually well recorded.

My latest purchases th.jpeg and : th-1.jpeg

Just a quick thought on Doug Macleod, it strikes me as a little odd that this guy sings this way...I have never heard a blues voice like that with his kind of background...is it me or is it a little freaky!

I guess you ain't used to his style yet Davey.
...Doug is a poet, a Bluesman at heart, a Folk singer, a guitar player with an edge that goes perfectly well (synchronicity) with his story telling.

He's him, himself, his own style; just like you, like Keb' Mo', Eric Bibb, John Hammond, Guy Davis, Roy Rogers, Olu Dara, Paul Geremia, Kelly Joe Phelps, Robert Belfour, R.L. Burnside, Paul Rogers, Harry Manx, Jorma Kaukonen, Taj Mahal, Rory Block, ... etc.
They all have their own individual Blues style in their playing, and in their vocals.

Robert Johnson, the Delta Blues, Mississippi, the African Blues, ... Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and a zillion different type of Blues with different voices. ...Voices from the heart, the soul, the life's experiences, the stories (sad ones), the heavy stuff (from which you never truly recover), the dark side, the devilish side, the broken bones and the broken dreams and hearts, the pain, the cries, the non-lasting and broken love stories, the accidents, all the failures of life are in the Blues, and nobody had the same exact experiences twice, in their own life, and compared to other one's life.

So, what is it "little freaky" about Doug's voice? ;)

* Fernando, good idea for a thread; the newer stuff, the music we just discovered recently, even from well known older artists.
...Our own personal/musical road discoveries.

________

=> Here's two right now (I already know these musicians from long time ago though):

1. Marcus Miller - Renaissance ... Concord Jazz
2. Lee Ritenour - Rhythm Sessions ... Concord Jazz

Bombino "Nomad" -- thanks Andre!

Sallie Ford "Untamed Beast" -- she's disturbed; I like it!

The National "Trouble Will Find Me" -- On first listen I thought this was a light weight compared to "High Violet" but repeated listening convinces me that this is another terrific release

Psychic Ills "One Track Mind" -- One of my favorite 2013 releases by the NYC rock/psych group..

Wolf People "Fain" -- interesting mix of folk & rock which some reviewers compare to Jethro Tull...

Portland Cello Project "Play Beck Hansen's Song Reader" -- 'Rough on Rats' is a killer song! (CD only)

Great stuff Jazdoc!

BTW, I all over that Valerie June album when it is out. The new Stereophonics, Graffiti On the Bridge, is in my opinion, one of their best records.

I am doing an interview with the owner of Bombino's label btw.

I think you will really like this record:
