Technically though you get the best W&F values running the deck horizontally :)

Having new side panels made?

Yeap, I got the rack sides and removed the wood ones, not sure which ones look better...

Thanks ! ----Actually it is a fully modified 1520 by Tim de Paravicini under the EAR badge, full playback and record capabilities with 3 different EQs (including his own eq curve).

I played some tapes last night and heard no sonic drawbacks having the deck leaned, and of course it is easier to load tape, which was a good thing.
