Why do people that own vintage gear think It's better than new gear
I do not have any knowledge about Western Electrics speakers. I will look them up though. I have preferred JBL speakers for a long time but now I have Quads at my personal spaces and Dalis at the living room. I am very much satisfied with both brands. I prefer to listen to my "old" stuff. I humbly disagree with you on new gear's objective being better looks than better sound. The home entertainment system I got for the family really sounds great. Those Dali speakers put out the clearest sound and when my son wants to listen to his mind...- mrcool

I never bought anything because it was "old" or "nostalgic". Every equipment I have bought in my life was "brand new" and "state of the art" at its time. We just grew old together with some of them. I'm in manufacturing business. A lemon slips through, no matter how you try to make things perfect. The important thing is not letting the customer suffer for it. Update: Marantz did not opt for changing the HDMI board, they sent me a new machine instead. It seems that the company did not loose anything from its dependability in the last forty years or so. Thank you Marantz.- mrcool

I purchased an sr7009 a couple of weeks ago, it couldn't be turned on. No lights or anything. The dealer replaced it with a new one and that one worked for exactly one and a half days before frying its HDMI board. Now the service is inquiring from Marantz if that board is covered by the...- mrcool
