    Yes, it is set to maximum output gain. And yes it is set to maximum input gain. Extra 18db on Tape Out is available vis the continuously variable pots. So that is my question = how to set those pots.

    That's good to hear. Perhaps they only treat UK Customers in the way they treated me or perhaps they have decided to change their philosophy. Lets hope it is the latter rather than the former because they make excellent gear and deserve to be thought of highly.

    Yes, that's because you are in SF Bay and you have bought New. How do you buy through an authorised dealer when you live in England where there is no authorised dealer - a bit tricky. So you do the next best thing and contact the manufacturer directly, only to be told, No we can't help you.
