I suspected as much with the ARC 160. I haven't had an ARC amp since I had my Classic 150's way back when. I liked the amps, but they were unreliable. I now have a Ref 3 phono stage which I like very much, and I've been pleased with ARC communications and support. I've always valued service...
Wish I had your room size, but can't rebuild my house for my system. My room is 15'x20' roughly. Bigger is better here, but I don't feel badly constrained. The 30.7's open up quite nicely here.
FWIW, I grabbed a pic of the 30.7 mini's and annotated it. The midrange is standing there to the left of the LRS, and the woofer tower is sort of hiding behind that wine rack sort of thing. I was curious about those mini's because they might let me spread out my 30.7 mids even wider.
I have plenty of McIntosh stuff, and like it very much. 2 MR-78 tuners, an MHA 200 headphone amp, original C-30 pre and recently refurbished MC2255 amp. In fact, I will drive my 1.7i's at least initially with the MC2255. Will also try the 1.7i's with my CJ Premier 8's.
Plenty of bass, and well integrated with the other frequencies. Agree, there's no need for a sub. I'm not a bass-aholic, even though I ran Infinity Betas with those big woofer towers. I find the bass on these 30.7's much more pleasing. The Betas were really two speaker systems: a midrange...
Getting the demo is the issue. I had a demo of the Burmester 911 set up, but had to cancel because of the holidays. I just couldn't give it the attention it required, but will revisit after year end.
Not familiar with EMM Labs, but will definitely check them out.. What is it that makes for a good pairing? Is it the high current/big damping factor business, or is there something else?
Thanks for the suggestions. See my list below. I see we intersect on the AR 750's. I loved my Conrad Johnson Premier 8 tubers; there's something magical about tubes.

I love these speakers, after I set them up properly, with a lot of help and advice. Previous system was Infinity Betas, with Conrad Johnson Premier 8 on midrange. Never thought I'd hear the equal of those Betas, but these 30.7's have made a believer of me. Seamless, huge sound stage, plenty...
