How Hi Fi Has Become a Standard Unto Itself

Karen, your views on how the audio industry has become a slave to reviewers is so correct, many of your points should be considered truisms. I think one of the problems is that with the explosion of the Internet and social media, anyone can have a YouTube channel and call themselves a reviewer...

    Boulder 866 Driving Magnepan 20.7's

@Big Dog RJ Because it's a Boulder, my expectations of the 866 were pretty high but I never expected it to be as good as it is. It's the first all-in-1 that I've heard that competes with high end separates. It has more meat on the bones than the typical Class D based all-in-1 boxes I've...

    Boulder 866 Driving Magnepan 20.7's

/,!,! Mike, your Boulder 866 review was pathetic. You missed the entire point of the 866. Connect it to the Internet to access Qobuz aand you don't need a lo-fi Bluesound 2i or Sony CD player. You never hooked it up to some challenging speaker loads like Magico to see how powerful the amp...

    Conflicted - Boulder 866 vs. 1161 vs. Used 2060

Comparing the Boulder 1161 to a 2060 is not a fair fight. Even though it's a newer generation the 1161 delivers 150 watts into 8 ohms and the 2060 delivers 600 watts. Perhaps a fairer fight would be the 1160 to the 2060. I have a 2060 and have never owned a pair of speakers it can't handle...

    Boulder 866 Driving Magnepan 20.7's

I'm considering purchasing a Boulder 866 Integrated (Digital version) based on the positive reviews and speaking with a couple 866 owners. My main concern is will it have ample power to drive my Magnepan 20.7's? If anyone out there owns or has listened to this combo, I appreciate the feedback...

High Level Subwoofer Inputs: A Necessary Feature?

I recently had a REL S/510 and connected the high-level input from my Boulder 2060 amp, which drives Maggie 20.7s. The high-level method seemed to get in the way of the terrific mid-bass that the Maggies produce. I preferred connecting the REL S/510 using the low level from my AR preamp.

How the inside of a 20 yr. old Magnepan looks like

I just came across this article from @christof on the condition of the wiring inside his 20 year old Maggie 2.7s. I recently purchased pre-owned 20.7s that are circa 2016. Will I have to concern myself with similar issues in approx 15 years or has Magnepan changed the quality of the wiring?
