Some records sound worse on last song on the side?

I have to mention here, that I did increase anti-skate, and the sound on the last song was better. It just resulted in a poorer compromise for the entire record.

Some records sound worse on last song on the side?

I forgot to mention my phono cartridge, which was Linn Archiv(not the B version).

Some records sound worse on last song on the side?

I did my "testing" before I had even heard of the theory of no anti-skate at all, so it was a given that I was going to use anti-skate, and I was just picking the correct setting(and assuming it was going to be close to the VTF number). So, it was a very narrow test(i.e. the setting was only...

Some records sound worse on last song on the side?

This situation(i.e. songs sound worse on the inner part of an LP) is ingrained in regular(i.e. non-linear tracking tonearms) playback. Anti-skate is a compromise, and if you spend a lot of time listening as a test, you pick the best compromise for the sound. I've found the best compromise is...

    Reference Turntable, The Step Beyond

I take issue with number 2-not because it's wrong, but because I believe what we have here is a direct connection to the music with analog(albeit with modifications) versus a representation of music(a sampling, if you will) with digital. The difference to me is manifested by the listener...

New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

I thought people forgot to mention the Warriors(you have to celebrate when your team is doing well, because you never know the future. Trust me about this.). Kerr seems to be fine-tuning things, and he definitely learned something(I believe) from the first Atlanta game. They played down the...

Top vintage turntables, which would you choose?

Memory Memory might not be as age-related as you think, Mike, as people in their early 40's are talking to each other about their memory loss.

Will Analog be better than my high end digital?

I thought the Audio Note 2 and J.C. Verdier turntables at a recent(3 years ago) California Audio Show were enough to show up the Meitner gear there, and I think Meitner might agree to this. Now, if you were to compare(intellectually) the analog to the digital, most likely the digital would...

Will Analog be better than my high end digital?

I still think analog is more relaxing. I used to use it just for that reason. I think it's possible that analog will play inside your head sooner than digital will. There is an interesting "you-tube" video where a comparison was done using the same master. Needle drops of a Technics 1200...

    The Future of Turntables ...

I heard one example of an album recorded digitally(the way you mention), and it was hard(I couldn't tell.) to hear(or feel) any difference. Alex of APL did this. Also, I heard the digital recordings of both Fremer's Continuum and that expensive Clearaudio(no longer made), and they sounded like...

    Basis turntables

The need to tweak that turntable. I would look at the suspension.

Linn LP 12... anyone else still like this design?

Good to hear, DaveyF. I'm considering a Radikal upgrade(based on needle-drops, mostly, and comments). The Kore is said to be better than the standard subchasis, and much cheaper than the Keel. Who did your work(I live in Northern California.)?

Linn LP 12... anyone else still like this design?

In the interests of accuracy, I read an interview with the maker of the Kandid(from memory, I thought it was said to be hand built. What that means, I don't know.), and I believe that MylesBAstor comes the closest to how it was done. I've also heard the cartridge on utube(Pasinee-I think)...
