The basic answer to your question is no.
Now, If the inherent coloration from a tube amp "fixes" the source by making it sound more "live" to you - as it often does to me - that's fine.
But let's not pretend that the best tube amps are as faithfull to the input source as the best SS amps...
From a service aspect, the PAS power transformer seemed to be the most common failure - they run hot.
After my second failure, I went with a small xfmer for the filaments to take some of the load off.
I have owned several on the list, and IMHO DCM's Time windows deserve mention as well.
