All the blablabla about what is good audio. In my opinion, any system (the working word here is SYSTEM) that recreates the art-form (music) with all its harmonics (overtones/undertones) so that we hear the performers, rather than the equipment is good — and who cares what technology is used! The best amps I have auditioned over the past 24 years included many great SS designs as well as many tube components — often a combination of both (amp/preamp or preamp/amp). However, all amps or preamps are connected to loudspeakers with cables, perhaps some tweaks and source components. If music is the main reason for a system, it is the system synergy that needs to be looked after. If audio gear is the main reason for a system, then suit yourself —*you may never get it right.
