Hi Bonzo,

Thanks for the report. Meeting outstanding people and listening to their great systems and is a hobby in its own right. Out of curiosity, how much have you spent on these kinds of adventures?

Also, curious as what your definition of "dense" is. Obviously definitions are determined by tastes and references.

A rich, powerful midbass is one of my main fetishes and that's why I own the speaker. Also, tonality needs to be right for me - no thin amps like Sanders can do. Currently run mine with 4 very powerful class a monos just for the dynamics and tonality. But curious as where you are coming from.

He must be the most well-travelled audiophile in the world. He has literally been thousands of miles and listened to some of the greatest systems out there.

Seriously! If one has the time and travel budget, that's the way to do it.

Maybe I missed it, but what are the sonic differences between TechDas and Kronos?

Not sure about budget. I have a restless mind and this saves me the cost of buying myself to A/B. At least, that's the way I justify it. It also gives me insights to radically different learning experiences

Not possible to make out in this system.

Good for you! That is the ideal way to figure things out in this sometimes-confusing hobby. I can only imagine the amount of tacit knowledge, based on all the conversations, that you have picked up during your visits.

So one can just save the $$$ and get the most basic TechDas, which is spectacular, and be all set?

I think the fun in the hobby is finding that which gives you way more mileage than it's price point. Why do people like ddk rate the TTs he has so high, with the micro seiki 5000 being available at 10k or less? Why did one guy on the Gon sell his continuum to get the Seiki 8000 and then EMT 927? One of Audio cracks TTs, the blue pearl Jem, was rated by Roy Gregory as much better than Rockport Sirius (how correct Roy is none of us can say), but that is available at 10k GBP on the used market.

The fun is to search for such components. I would guess there are some high value cartridges too, like Decca, for instance. Or Ortofon.

What a great thread Bonzo. Thanks for sharing.

Detloff - the passion you have shows through in Bonzo's great coverage as well as your set up through the years of you being in this hobby. Systems like these are not generated overnight.

Bono - The joys of listening to private systems can't be beaten.

First of all the experience you get, it develops one's learnings each time.

But most of all the friendship you develop and communication with each other that one has for life. And that just can't be bought or beaten.

Look forward to reading more of your escapade's as you come across them.

Thanks once again to you and Detloff.

Well I suppose the time has come to thank you all for your comments and your kind words!
Kedar, I've followed your advice and I am waiting for my first package of the resonators.
From seeing all my gear which clog up my space one might be lead to think that I love those machines. I do not. It is my love, as well as my deep need for music which has accompanied all my life.
Thank you again Ked, thank you and happy soul touching listening to all my brothers ( and sisters ) in music.

Oh wow Detlof good to hear that. Did you get the ultra diamond? Try them under the pre, and then the dac to start off to see where it works best

Also they might sound better if not put on the synergistic base, but can't confirm

Thanks Ked, don't intend to. Will first try the "BEAST", then the DAC and finally the Lamm phono main unit.
By the way, the day after you had left, got the AR phono back to working. Oh the curse alas..........
